Internship at the Hydrology and Hydrodynamics Department
The Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw is looking for bachelor or master students to perform an internship within the Water 4 All project on “Ecosystem services to enhance the resilience of coastal regions and communities to flood risks in a catchment to sea perspective (acronym EcoC2S)”.
The internship concerns collecting relevant indicators of socioeconomic development and the systems’ behavior and response to hydroclimatic extreme events, mainly floods. In particular, the internship includes collection and analysis of social system’s indicators as population’s characteristics (e.g., density, age), properties, critical infrastructures, etc., as well as the analysis of vulnerability indicators describing the physical properties of the study area that may influence the intensity of the hazard and the local natural resilience, such as accommodation space, coastline and land use change, coastal protection works, urbanization rates, etc.
Data will be collected via literature review, and by interacting with international consortium partners. Good knowledge of English is required.
The internship is not paid and can be done both remotely or at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
Internship details (duration, starting date) will be discussed with interested candidates.
