Can courage and vision spark a movement that reaches the stars?
Thanks to the Polish Consul in Houston, Andrzej Fąfara, and initiative of prof. Monika A. Kusiak and dr. Wojciech Kusiak, Fulbright Fellows had unique opportunity to meet dr Sławosz Uznański, Polish astronaut who will participate in the mission to the International Space Station in mid-2025.
The discussion was enriched by bright minds of Fulbright Poland fellows: Małgorzata Dwulat (Uniwersytet Gdański / The City College of New York), Monika Agnieszka Kusiak (Institut Geofizyki PAN / NASA, Houston), Grzegorz Liskiewicz (Polittechnika Łódzka / Texas A&M University), Katarzyna Posmyk (Politechnika Wrocławska / Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Marcin Rabiza (Szkoła Nauk Społecznych PAN / University of California), Joanna Stempień (Instytut Polonistyki Stosowanej UW / Washington University), Emilia Trudnowska (Instytut Oceanologii PAN / Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute), Tomasz Wiktor (Akademia Sztuk Pięknych / Northeastern University, Boston), Jakub Wojciechowski (Instytut Biologii Doświadczalnej PAN / New Jersey Institute of Technology), and as well prof. Igor Kosacki from Houston University.
The panelists, ambassadors of Polish Sciences, discussed topics related to the state of Polish science in the light of world science. They also head opportunity to get more information about scientific experiments that will be conducted during space mission by dr Sławosz Uznański. During the discussion, a powerful message resounded: thanks to international cooperation and with a great courage, there are no limits in conducting scientific research at the highest world level.
During the meeting, participants signed each other T-shirt with text welcoming ‘creatures from beyond the outer world!’ prepared originally in 55 languages: https://science.nasa.gov/mission/voyager/golden-record-contents/greetings/
As the New Year is approaching, I would like to wish everyone for 2025 coming a strong courage, crossing the borders of our minds and fly high out of the box. Sky is not the limit!
