New volume in the series In Memoriam dedicated to the memory of Professora Aleksander Guterch
The Editorial Board of the Publications of the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences announce a new volume in the series In Memoriam, this time dedicated to the memory of Professor Aleksander Guterch, who passed away almost a year ago. The Eminent Scientist is recalled by his colleagues and friends.
The figure of Aleksander Guterch is inextricably linked with research on the structure of the Earth's crust and upper mantle in Poland, Central Europe, and polar regions. Alongside, the history of DSS (Deep Seismic Sounding) in Poland is presented. The editors of this volume have successfully brought together contributions from numerous individuals representing various spheres of AG's activities and life, including his private life. The volume is enriched with numerous photographs within individual texts as well as special appendices featuring images showcasing AG's activities and the work of the Department of Lithospheric Research. We hope that every reader will find something of interest in this publication.
The issue is now available here, and a printed version will be published soon.
This is a second book in the In Memoriam series published recently. A year earlier, the Institute lost another Outstanding Person, Professor Roman Teisseyre; a memoir about him is available here.
We invite you to take a moment of reflection on the deceased scholars who were among the founders of our Institute.
