Habilitation Colloquium at the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Hossein Hamidifar from the Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics has successfully passed his habilitation colloquium.

On February 6, 2025, a public habilitation colloquium for Dr. Hossein Hamidifar was held at the headquarters of the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences. The habilitation committee was chaired by Professor Tomasz Walczykiewicz, and its members included: Associate Professor Stanisław Chmiel, Associate Professor Adam Kiczko, Professor Leszek Kuchar, Associate Professor Janusz Siwek, Associate Professor Michał Pętlicki (secretary), and Associate Professor Eng. Magdalena Mrokowska.
The scientific achievement forming the basis for his application for the degree of habilitated doctor in the field of exact and natural sciences, within the discipline of Earth and environmental sciences, was his habilitation thesis titled: "Understanding the Interactions of Flow, Sediment, Vegetation, and Pollutants in Riverine Systems."
The reviewers highly praised his scientific contributions, emphasizing their significance for advancing research on river dynamics. Special attention was given to his innovative approach to analyzing interactions between water flow and sediments, the interdisciplinary nature of his research, and its practical applications in water engineering. His work was also recognized as highly valuable for understanding pollutant transport processes in river systems. In summary, Dr. Hossein Hamidifar's research makes a significant contribution to the development of river ecology.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations and wish him great success in his future scientific endeavors!
